About the Artist

Dinah Van Hook began studying art and painting at an early age. At age eleven, she was enrolled in studio classes under her childhood mentor, Marjorie Chamberlain, where she developed a life long passion for art. Art studies continued in undergraduate school at Southern Arkansas University, UCLA, University of Arkansas and obtained a post graduate MA degree in art education from Louisiana Tech University. After college Dinah taught art first in public school and then at the college level for many years. During her long career as a college art instructor, she continued to study with nationally known artists including Daniel Greene, Everett Raymond Kintsler, Robert E. Wood and Charles Reid. 

Professional memberships include American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and Midsouthern Watercolorists. Dinah was juried into a professional portrait artists master class at the Santa Fe Arts Institute in 1995 with Everett Raymond Kintsler. She has recently been accepted into the Susan K Black Foundation artists' Rendezvous in Dubois, Wyoming for 2019 and 2020.
